Friday Fellowship

Relationships are "The Game"

As a quarterback, you’ve always known that you can’t win a game alone, and you probably figured out that you are really only as good as those around you.

It turns out that the people in our huddle are not only important to us in football, but they are actually the key to our health, happiness, and survival.

As we kick off 2026 - Happy New Year, fellow QBs! - we are looking at the longest study of human life ever conducted to understand why relationships, what we at QB Connections are calling Fellowship, is not only our most important statistic, it is in fact “The Game.”

We will also gather the squad on January 9th at Noon EST, to talk about the vision for QB Connections. While it’s on your mind, please add this invite to your calendar, if it’s not already there. (hopefully that link works for you … if not, please reach out!)

The Read: The Harvard Study of Adult Development

For over 80 years, Harvard researchers have followed the lives of 724 men and their families to answer one question: What keeps us healthy and happy?

  • The Power of Connection: Social connections are the single greatest predictor of health and longevity; people who are more connected to family, friends, and community are happier and physically healthier.

  • The Loneliness Penalty: Isolation is toxic; individuals who are more lonely than they want to be experience earlier health declines, faster brain decay, and shorter lifespans.

  • Quality Over Quantity: It isn't about the number of friends you have, but the quality of your close relationships. High-conflict relationships are bad for health, while warm, supportive ones are protective.

  • Brain Protection: Being in a securely attached relationship where you feel you can count on the other person helps keep your memory sharper for longer.

As QBs, we watch a lot of film. This one just might be the most important:

The Ask: Help Us Build the Fellowship

The data is clear: relationships are “The Game.”

QB Connections co-founders Vin Ferrara and Chris Hetherington actually played against each other in what is often called “The Game.”

Vin calls it the Harvard - Yale game :)

Chris calls it the Yale - Harvard game :)

Whatever it’s called, after a few years as competitors, and after decades of never having spoken beyond a quick post Game handshake in 1995, Chris and Vin connected on LinkedIn and the seeds of QB Connections were sown.

We are officially kicking things off on January 9th, and we want you in the QB Room.

Again, here is the invite - we hope to see you there!
